Find Your True Gift

Tony Robbins is one of my favorite Orators.  He really emphasizes many of the points I strongly believe in, especially the idea of pursuing what you love.  Nothing is more important to our well being than doing something we love each day.

Enjoy your weekend.

Leave the Wheel Alone!

Sam Walton did not reinvent the wheel...he just took it over! The one thing I definitely have learned over the course of my many business ventures is you do not have to reinvent the wheel to be successful.  As a matter of fact, it is a complete waste of energy.  As the title says, leave the wheel alone!  Success is not based on you creating a brand new way to do everything.  You simply have to build off of others success.

For example, when I started my mortgage branch, it was an exciting time.  I needed to get in Loan Officers and somehow generate leads in a declining market.  However, I did not need to reinvent the wheel doing so.  There was no magic lead source, or magic lead system.  It strictly took working the phones, canvasing, and word of mouth.  That’s it.

The Importance of Returning Calls

One of the most important parts of business, especially today, is networking. With the internet at its peak, and communication in many mediums as easy as a touch of a button, it is more important than ever for people to be good networkers.

Networking is important because it opens doors. Nowadays, contacting professionals in your field is as easy as can be online. However, people tend to be afraid still to reach out. ‘What if I sound stupid?’ some people think. Well, at least you sound something, because without ever trying to open the door, you can only guess what is behind it.

A Key to Success: Realistic Goals

Are your goals realistic?Chances are if you are reading this, the entrepreneur spirit is deeply embedded in your soul.  One of the mistakes I learned the hard way is to set realistic goals for yourself.

We all have a habit of thinking big, or we would not be entrepreneurs.  Thinking big, though, is not enough.  In fact, it can be detrimental to achieving those goals.  The reason is because those unrealistic goals can cloud the reality of getting to them.

For example, let’s pretend you wanted to open up a Jiu Jitsu school.  Not just any Jiu Jitsu School.  But the biggest and baddest Jiu Jitsu school ever created in the history of Jiu Jitsu Schools.  You want to train champions. You want to have every great practitioner in the area train at this school. You want it to be nationally recognized, become a franchise, and blaze the trail that all other Jiu Jitsu Schools will follow.

Inspirational Quote For April 23rd, 2008

“Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!”

The Co$t of Paying Attention

I was driving home the other day from training thinking about the phrase ‘paying attention’. I love history and have always found it interesting how sayings originally developed into common practice. The reason I was intrigued was because of something I noticed during training, but more on that in a bit. Right now I was thinking of the common phrase ‘paying attention’.

I don’t know of any other nouns that have the verb ‘paying’ in front of them that are not associated with anything financial. You don’t, or at least I hope you don’t, go around saying you are ‘paying thought’ or ‘paying observation’. No. The only word not associated with money that I can think of is ‘paying attention’. As stupid as this sounds, I think I figured it out during training.

In the Clear

My home officeI’ve been home a few weeks now, working diligently from my home office. The most annoying struggle I deal with every day is the cravings for attention from my 3 playful cats. I have by no means stopped working any harder than when I went to the office every day, but already I can see the difference.

Giving up on my mortgage branch was not the easiest thing to do. I am a competitive person, and do not like to give up on anything. However, I had to step back and look at it differently. I was not giving up. I was moving forward, so I told myself, going to do what I should have done a long time ago. So how is the change going?

3 Ways to Make the Best of a Bad Economy

cash_advance.jpg

Everyday I wake up the economy seems to look worse and worse. I have been right on top of the slide since I was in the mortgage business for the last few years. Each day, it was like, what other bad news could possibly come out? The government tries to make things look better than they are by cutting interest rates, but even that has had little effect. It’s just a down time.

The question is what can you do to survive in a down economy? You can’t keep spending like you were two years ago, not with gas prices near $3/gallon. So, how do you adjust? Well, here are three ways to start:

1. Make a List of Your Expenses
