@jason
I don't think I mentioned the word greed in my post, nor did anything Dana or Madonna did cross the lines of moral integrity. The point of the post, at least my intended point, is that many times we get caught up in trying to please everyone around us.

But the question is, by pleasing everyone around us, are we really pleasing ourself?

My answer is no. In the long run, going after what you want in life, and sticking to your dreams, is what makes us the happiest, and therefore, the best we can be.

Do the ends justify the means when getting to the top means stepping on people along the way?

I guess it depends on your definition of success.

I personally don't think I could not be proud of any success I have if it meant I had to be cutthroat and shady. At the end of the day I'd rather be poor and be able to look myself in the mirror than be successful and guilt ridden.

Of course the problem lies in the fact that often, the pursuit of success trumps any sort of moral integrity a person may normally have.

Greed can be an ugly thing, and is often the driving force behind "success".
