@Ari
Well said....

'Sometimes it’s people who take these values outside, who retain it better than those who remain inside, unaware of the value of what they hold.'

It's always strange to hear about outsider's perspective on my home country. I myself am an outsider, as I have not lived in Japan since I was 12, but I am still a Japanese -- so I am constantly learning about my own origin through these types of experience.

There's a word in Japanese called "konjo." It's used in sports a lot. It means perseverance, but with a twist -- it doesn't include grudging. They look at it as positive thing, to have to persevere something, as it builds character.

It's funny because I understand that it's a value that's getting increasingly lost in modern Japan. Sometimes it's people who take these values outside, who retain it better than those who remain inside, unaware of the value of what they hold.

@Glen
Thanks. I appreciate the compliment.

@Pete
I totally agree. There is whole other world of communication going on that tells the true story better than any spoken words ever could.

When a loving father speaks to his children he is always sending subliminal messages. If children, any age, listen very carefully they will be surprised at how powerful they are. Listening is a great tool in life, business and marriage, however, understanding the true meaning of what was said is just as important. Become a careful listener ?

By far my favourite post on the site. I was actually reading it in my feed reader before i knew which site it came from so don't think badly about this but I'm very surprised / impressed :)

I don't get to watch UFC / MMA as I never turn on the TV over here in South Africa but you told a great story.

Cheers,
Glen
